Apella Beach

Apella beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Karpathos! It presents coarse-grained sand along with very white pebbles. It is equipped with sun beds and umbrellas, and a small tavern where you can buy fresh drinks or have a snack.
The nearest center is several kilometers away, so if you prefer to opt for "do it yourself" (better to do some shopping in Pigadia (in the capital) or in one of the other countries.
Apella also has a free part, bringing everything you need from the accommodation to protect you from the sun, unless you prefer to do it under one of the many green tamarisks that embrace the beach.

How do you reach Apella beach?

Apella beach is located about 18 kilometers north of Pigadia (45 minutes by car), near the village from which it takes its name. You can get there by car and the road is only one, with no possibility of making a mistake: go past the village of Aperi and after about 10 km there is a crossroads with directions. It is located a couple of kilometers after the one that leads to Kira Panagia beach.

The road leading to Apella is paved up to the small parking lot of the only tavern present.
The road is at times dangerous, because of the rocky wall which in recent years unfortunately tends to crumble and because of the numerous hairpin bends ... but the panorama it will give you is a view that will seem surreal as much as fascinating! On the left high rocky walls, on the right dense vegetation that allows you to glimpse the intense blue sea ... as well as a few goats here and there.
The car is certainly the best way not only to reach Apella beach, but also to all other beaches.
Karpathos is not an island to be driven on a scooter, due to its considerable distances.
As an alternative to the car, you can get there by boat from the port of Pigadia with daily excursions that include several beaches on the island.

Apella beach is the most popular beach on the island of Karpathos, so it goes without saying that in the high season months it is teeming with many visitors. Precisely for this reason, put an alarm clock early in the morning and be there for 9.00 am. Later hundreds of visitors will start arriving by land and by sea ... and finding sunbeds and umbrellas could be quite difficult. You know .. beautiful things sometimes require a bit of effort..but believe it ... the beach of Apella in the early morning is dreamy! You can't miss it!

What can you admire on Apella beach?

Once you get here you will be amazed! The beach shows a calm and clear sea, with a thousand shades: from emerald green to light blue and finally to blue! Furthermore, even if the beach is well known and popular, it is so large (over 300 m) that it is always livable enough. Only when the daily excursion boats arrive from the port of Pigadia does the atmosphere become a little chaotic.

Your first expression will be an immense: WOW! And already because here the atmosphere is amazing, the rocks at the edges of the beach are very suggestive, the water is among the most crystalline that you may have admired and the beach is huge!

If you are a snorkeling lover you are in the perfect place. Here the fish are many and multicolored!

The beach has a stretch equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as a totally free stretch.
