Porto Katsiki Beach

Porto Katsiki beach is located 46 km southwest of the capital of Lefkada, that is Lefkada City, near the village of Athani. It is one of the best beaches in Greece and the Mediterranean, as well as obviously in Lefkada. It boasts beautiful white cliffs that plummet into the deep blue Ionian waters and a soft sandy shoreline. And if you do not want to get up from the bed or from the beach towel to order a snack you can call the restaurant or give orders to the staff who periodically passes, so that what you want to taste can be brought directly under your umbrella.

The hidden lighthouse and monastery!

In addition to being an extremely wonderful place, Porto Katsiki also allows the visit of Capo Lefkada, or the lighthouse from which, according to legend, the poet Sappho committed suicide by throwing himself into the sea. Also from here you can admire the splendid panorama: the infinite sea on which the beautiful islands of Kefalonia and Ithaca rest on the horizon. Another unique scenario, which you will surely struggle to forget! And if you want to get to know this area better, you could take a trip to the ancient monastery of San Nicola, located right on the lighthouse road. It is a monastery that at first glance seems abandoned but inside there is a pretty nun who will tell you the history of the monastery and offer you some typical products. Very few visitors come to visit this ancient place but those few have always been satisfied with it, especially by the excellent quality of the products and the extreme sympathy of the sweet nun.

How do I get to Porto Katsiki?

To reach the beach of Porto Katsiki you can use car or boat. In the first case, if you start from Lefkada City it will take you about an hour to get there, following a very simple and well-marked road. Once you arrive you will have to park the vehicle and go down to the beach through the appropriate staircase.
In the second case you will have to take one of the boat taxis that leave from the villages of Vassiliki and Nidri, in about an hour and a half they will land you on this beautiful rocky bay.
