Perivolos beach

Perivolos beach is a characteristic beach of coarse black sand mixed with small dark pebbles, located on the south coast of the island of Santorini, about 17 km from Fira (the capital).

The beach of Perivolos is one of the most known and appreciated of the whole island of Santorini, for being very wide and easily reachable both by bus, by car and by foot from the nearby and equally beloved beach of Perissa.

The stretch that goes from Perissa to Perivolos is a succession of beaches, beach bars, restaurants and many tourists who come here to rest and enjoy a day of sea and beach.
The Perivolos beach is also very popular for its tranquility, in fact thanks to its size, it is never too crowded, so relaxation is guaranteed!

And what's better than a nice walk on the beach? There is only a very small but important foresight to keep in mind: the sand is always very hot, so don't forget to bring flip-flops or rubber shoes with you to reach the shore. In fact, all the beaches have wooden runners to avoid this inconvenience. All this is due to the fact that you are on the island of Santorini, a volcanic island, where the dark sand gets very hot very quickly!

Here in Perivolos the very clean water, of an intense blue, which becomes deep after a few meters, is ideal for taking a swim and exploring the seabed while snorkeling. It is less suitable for those who cannot swim and prefer shallow water. Very recommended also when the winds blow from the northern direction.

All the beaches offer free sunbeds and umbrellas "in exchange" for a drink at the bar, where prices are still moderate.

Despite being a very quiet place it offers the possibility to practice numerous water sports, such as diving, windsurfing or water skiing, for adrenaline lovers.

Along the coast of Perivolos beach there are numerous taverns, bars, restaurants and nightclubs, perfect for sampling some Greek specialties, perhaps based on fish. Stop in the evening and take a leisurely stroll along the seafront, choose from the various typical restaurants to choose one where you can dine and spend a beautiful and romantic evening admiring the wonder of the Aegean Sea.
