Koukounaries Beach

Koukounaries beach is undoubtedly the most famous on the island of Skiathos. It has a splendid emerald-colored sea that slopes very gently, incredibly fine white sand and a dense pine forest at the back comprising a vast protected area. Within this natural habitat you can find different species of plants and birds. In fact, thanks to funding from the Municipality of Skiathos and the European Union, this area has been dedicated to ecotourism. To visit this protected area, you can follow paths that start from the beach and from the parking lot, and meander inside the pine forest taking you to the small lagho and taking these paths you can walk in total tranquility in the middle of nature.

Is Koukounaries beach equipped?

In the surrounding area there are several hotels, apartments and restaurants while on the beach countless services are offered: including water sports facilities, baths, showers, changing rooms, sunbed and umbrella hire for just € 8 per day, several bars that in the late afternoon they start to turn on music with dj sets and 3 excellent taverns where to enjoy excellent fish or a good Greek dish.
But if you love adventure and places with an even wilder spirit, then it is sufficient that you go to the stretches of free beach. Ideal for relaxing with only the sound of the waves that hit the shore and without umbrellas and sunbeds around it that could annoy you. And if you want shade, the pine forest behind it is there ready to welcome you and shelter you from the sun!
Given its fame it is quite popular and enjoys many comforts, but despite this it remains one of the most pristine and beautiful beaches in the whole Mediterranean. How to reach Koukounaries beach?

Koukounaries beach is located 16 kilometers from Skiathos Town (the capital). It is excellent for long walks on the shore while admiring the wonderful paradise that surrounds the crystal-clear sea. This more than a kilometer long beach can be reached from the City of Skiathos by bus from stop number 22, which runs every 30 minutes, so you don't even have to drive a car if you don't feel like it. If you are a born driver and driving is your passion, you can still get there easily with your car, parking will not be a problem because it is right in front of the beach.
